Something I hate...

I LOVE going into the mall, big smile, expressing my glee and practically running into forever 21. I ooh and aah at all the racks and tables piled with buckets of glorious, shiny jewelery. I HATE walking out without that little plastic, cheery yellow bag with big black block letters FOREVER 21 printed on the bottom. I feel empty handed and disappointed, and I can't enjoy the rest of the mall. It's the strangest feeling. I get HUGE jealousy pangs when I see other girls wandering around toting their forever 21 bags. Today I had to endure 3 hours of walking around the grapevine mills mall without my yellow bag :( I was in line to get this ADORABLE necklace, when Madre and Caroline strolled in and stopped me in my tracks. "It's clunky" were the first words out of their mouths. IT WAS NOT! It was delicate, gold chain with little colorful beads and charms gathered on a small ropey hoop at the bottom. Very in, very cute. And it wasn't going to me mine.

Why So Serious!?

A very big chunk of my Sunday was spent doing wacky things to my face with makeup. I am 15, almost 16, and I LOVE playing with makeup. Is that normal?

Merry Christmas!

Our Christmas went very well I think. Every Christmas Eve we have crawfish bisque, from Papadeaux's, and it tastes so good. Caroline and JDogg and the little squirt spent the night with us, and we opened presents around 8 in morning. I GOT THE BOOK! I can't wait to finish it! And I got a CAMERA! That is HUGE for a christmas gift, and I am super excited to use it more. I will finally be able to post pictures on all my blog posts! Scoutmaster and JDogg both got remote control airplanes. Dad's was actually a helicopter. They love them and are SO easily entertained with them :)

As soon as breakfast, presents and "family time" was over, we all went out separate ways, and Holly dug in to her new book (I got her the Artemis Fowl book)

The little guy wandered around yapping and playing with the dog and his new toys in this little hat Holly got him. Isn't he so cute!?

JDogg really likes his plane. I wish I got some pictures of it flying.

Madre prepared dinner almost the whole day.

I was so excited about my camera I was taking pictures of EVERYTHING, so here's the table. I set it.

The Lobster was spectacular. I haven't had it in a while, and not a lot of it either. It was an entirely new eating experience. It was hard too! I didn't know how to get the meat out most of the time, half it's guts and juices spurted out onto the table, the butter, my drink, my CLOTHES. It clung to everything, but it was still fun, and tasty.

Davy didn't quite know what to make of the Lobster.

Last of all... Thanks Jenna! I LOVE IT!!!

phew!

Yes! It is all over! I accompanied twice today, and Holly and I played a special arrangement of Silent Night for the closing song. Mostly Holly played the special arrangement. I played the organ while she played a very difficult piano part. I did play chimes on the organ though. I loved it! And Holly did and amazing job, I think it was really nice. I feel exhausted having to learn that much in three weeks. Even though it's plenty of time, I can't always use that time to practice. I am absolutely sure I had help up there while playing, and I am so grateful for that. Now I all need to worry about it finishing homework and getting a few last minute presents.

NO MORE ACCOMPANYING! YEAH!

One More Week!

I'm dyin! One more week till christmas! I just finished reading the fifth Artemis Fowl book again, and now I can't wait to read the sixth! I could just go to the library and borrow it, but the whole world knows that the only thing I asked for is the 6th book, so I am waiting, forcing myself to wait, until christmas to see if I get it. If not, I'll buy it.

I am also hugely in love with the poster:

I've hinted to Jen (who has this poster) that I REALLY like it, and it would look great with my collage of other photo's of cute guys, and christmas is coming up and... it's at walmart, bin 30, very bottom right corner, $4.99. Love ya ;)

Of course gift giving is not the only reason I love christmas. I love the fact the everyone focuses on Jesus, and everyone celebrates His birth. I love reading about His birth every christmas morning, and really discussing it, talking about how grateful we are for Him. That and my whole familia is together :)

Busy Busy Busy

At least I FEEL extremely busy. I know there are plenty of others that are so much more stressed than me (mostly thinking of homework loaded friends). It's that wonderful and dreaded time of the year. I've been loaded up with christmas music to learn. I hate it when people just assume that because the organ is my calling , it is also my calling to accompany everyone in the ward when they want to sing something. I always say yes, because I can't say no.

This week I had two all day rehearsals, and two performances. I performed with my Treble Choir in the TAFA showcase of course, and with all the choirs combined and the band at the end. We messed up so many times while all singing together. They switched a song on us, and we never really new what we were singing next so when to stand up... it was a nightmare. But the next performance at this big Presbyterian was great! The sound was amazing, all the soloists did great, the organ was beautiful. Only bummer was the cricket trying to sing along with us throughout the whole thing. It was so LOUD. And it echoed everywhere, and there was no way to find a little inch long bug making noise in some corner of a huge church.

I can't wait for next semester!

Jen's party...

...was so much fun! The Velcro wall was AWESOME, though often painful. Jen has so many friends, it's crazy. I watched the worst horror film EVER and I liked it! Jen loved the mirror ball I got her :) yea! I can't for the next sweet 16. Probably K and N's.

Here's Jen and I goofing around with the helium balloons (taken by Sis U. :)

I GOT ONE!!!

Not the white hollister one, but I like it! And its soft, and cozy and warm. "Yummy" as my family would say. It was $43.29.

Nice to know

I know absolutely nothing about art, philosophy, religion, economics and literature. Strange...

December!!!

That was really fast! I still feel like I should be getting ready for halloween. I can't wait for christmas! For the first time ever, I'm not scrambling trying to think of something to get for the person I picked this year. Being the ward organist, I've been given a stack of christmas music to prepare for accompanying people throughout the ward. Fun fun...

My TAFA performance is coming up! I really want Jenna to go. I've now been to her Spring Dance, two violin recitals, and a swim meet. Now it's her turn to come watch me perform. Any one who wants to go is welcome!

About two months ago Mom started this new allowance for me, to buy my own clothes. It's really make me think about things I need, and places I can get them without spending a ton, and I'm pretty pleased after each of my shopping trips. Well, now I really need a jacket. Something thats thick, and nice and soft, and really comfy. I'm being very picky about it. I have looked in Ross, Marshals, Target, Khols, Burlington Coat Factory, Old Navy. Its seems like I've checked everywhere! Hollister has the exact one I want:

HOW HARD SHOULD IT BE TO FIND A FREAKIN' JACKET LIKE THIS ONE!?!?!? I have seen jackets just like this everywhere, yet when I shop for one, they are all out of smalls, or its not quite right. So I would get the jacket above, its perfect, just what I want, but it costs $98. That would mean saving up my allowance for two months.

Know of anymore places I can look for a jacket like this!?

TWILIGHT...

I have mixed feelings. I'm still unsure what to think. I liked it, but then I am a little disappointed. I had the feeling if someone had never read the book, they would a hard time following the movie. Although the Edward they had was nothing like MY Edward, I thought they picked a good one. He did a really good job of making it look like he really wanted to eat Bella. Bella got on my nerves. But then she got on my nerves in the book too, so I guess she did a good job of being annoying. Over all..... I think I liked it. I really want to watch it again, pick things up I missed before.
A while back Caroline gave this post, about The Host. I decided to give it a try and after the first four chapters I began to like it! There were some times where Meyer went on and on and on and it was all pointless by the end of her rant, but overall I really liked it. I might look at it differently if I were an english major like Caroline. I definitely think cutting it in half would have butchered it. Something I didn't like was that it was a little repetitive. I would read a sentence that I swear I read in Twilight, or some remark someone made that she already used in one of her previous books.

The Dance

This one we were joined with another stake. And it was really small! Everyone fit in half the gym. We were told by our ward leaders to wear a dress or slacks, and slacks for the guys. So here is us looking all nice and dressed up:
Then we got to the dance. WHAT!? Why is everyone wearing jeans!?

So the S ward was the only ward dressed up. Thankfully not many noticed. Jenna, Makiah and I spent quite a bit of our time watching "Twilight Guy". He was really cute, AND he was wearing a Twilight shirt! You gotta love a guy who likes Twilight!

What I Listened to Today

Madre is out of town, so I get to spend some time with Caroline and Davy! This is what I heard today:

"bldhf rtyu guhao shyush goggy"

"reflyjda fhgkalek a s goggy"

"kkjskd skwura GOGGY!"

"Hi goggy! Hi goggy! Hi goggy!"

"goggy goggy goggy goggy goggy goggy goggy goggy goggy..."

"babi babi babi babi babi babi babi babi babi babi"

"byyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyye!"

"meeeeow!"

Halloween Pics

There were a couple girls who had seen the dress before I ripped and dirtied it. They were horrified to see what I had done.

Yo Bama

Every week some great friends of ours, the B's, give me a ride to TAFA. Well I was with them on the way to TAFA on Monday, and Livvy (a nine year old I might add) suddenly announced,

"Oh my gosh! I am so nervous!"

"Why?" we all asked.

"Because tomorrow is the election!"

I thought that was so hilarious. Like a nine year old should be worrying about the election...
Well, I changed my mind. Maybe nine year olds should be worrying. Maybe EVERYONE should be worrying.

Halloween

LAst night was definitely the quietest halloween we've ever had. I went with my family to the trunk or treat dressed as a sort of corpse bride. Madre was wrapped all up in webs, like she had been attacked by Shelob or something. It was pretty good! Sis. B was the BEST I have to say. She was Sarah P. and she looks just like her!
After that, my friends in Cross Country were going to be presented on the field at the Boswell vs. Saginasty game so I had to go see them. I never actually saw them. Bummer. They were hardly presented! The drill team did Thriller which was awseome. I spent quite a bit of my time just trying to find Jenna, who was convinced I was going to be kidnapped and wondered why I ever went alone. I didn't know high schools were so dangerous! ;) Pioneers won 30-something to 17. Wahoo!

I will have pictures... someday. We don't have a camera. Our last two broke with the same problem. Let me take this time to tell whoever reads this: NEVER GET A NIKON CAMERA. They SUCK.

Six Flags

Yesterday I went with my Venturing Crew to Six Flags, for FREE! We did have to work in the haunted houses, but I would do that any day to get in free. We dressed in the same black cloaks as last year, and thankfully our shift was at 5:00 so it wasn't nearly as hot. I hid in the corner which I hated at first. There were slits in cracks in the walls and ceiling so some light seeped through and I didn't have a chance to really scare anyone, because they always saw me. Sometimes they would point and try saying stuff to me. Urg I hated that. But once it got dark out, my little corner was perfect. I scared the crap out of so many people, it was so much fun!

After the haunted house Jen, K and I went to batman. I had to pee really bad and I tried convincing Jenna that I really had to go, but she just said "Well just hold it for an hour!" An hour? Okay Jenna. YOU try holding it for an HOUR, even you've already had to go really bad, and still hold it through roller coaster! So Jenna didn't believe me when I said I was about to explode. I ran off without her to find a bathroom. It took me forever to find one and then get back to Batman. K was saving our spots in the line, so we had to walk through a couple hundred people while saying "excuse us... sorry... I had to go the bathroom... we're trying to find our friend..." And the people were so mean! They didn't understand the situation and they were trying to tell us to get to the back of the line, and we were cheating and stuff. I was glad I got to ride Batman before we left, but I didn't enjoy the ride that much. I felt like I did cheat. But if I hadn't had to go to the bathroom, I would have entered the line with Jenna and K and everything would have been fine. It's not my fault I had to go so bad!

Game and barf

Wednesday night, the day for the big TCU vs. BYU game we were going to go to, I woke up 2:30 a.m to someone being violently sick in the bathroom. It scared me half to death. Which direction I sleep in on the bed, which wall my bed is against, and how my bedroom is situated next to my parents bedroom makes it so my ear is literally right against their bathroom toilet. I got very little sleep that night. I had several methods of blocking the sound. First I blasted my my ipod in my ears, then I got up and got ear plugs which didn't totally block everything out, so then I tried singing, then I put the pillow over my head, with ear plugs, while singing. That helped a lot. And I still went to seminary.

It turned out it was Scoutmaster who got the flu from Davy. Every time we have the flu in our house my hypochondriac-ness starts to REALLY show. I sprayed EVERYTHING with Lysol flu virus kill after seminary. All the light switches, remotes, any kind of handle. I was using hand sanitiser every minute and wandering around sniffing my oils.

Thankfully I haven't gotten it and it's been a few days since it all started. I don't think I will get it. Knock on wood knock on wood knock on wood knock on wood knock on wood knock on wood knock on wood knock on wood...

The game was totally different from the home game I went to. BYU lost :( everyone seemed to be... meaner. And grumpy. From now on I only want to go to home games. I learned the song, and I really want to "rise and shout" now.

Mall and barf

Today, my friends and I decided to go to the mall and get twilight shirts to wear to the midnight show. The night of, we are going to all wear them and we are going to make ourselves all pale. We even considered getting some gold or red nonprescription contacts to wear from walmart for 20 bucks! But I decided not to do that since I learned that you can go blind from wearing one size fits all contacts, even for just a few hours. Yikes!

After we got our shirts, we walked around the mall for a few hours. We didn't buy anything else until we were about to leave and we were starving. We pulled together whatever change we had, then divvied it up equally and we each got $1.35 to spend on food. I got a jr. burger and N got two corndogs! Did you know that Sonic charges 50 freakin cents for a slice of american cheese on your burger? What a rip off!

When I came home from shopping, Davy was here, and happily tromping around as usual. He saw me eating a popsicle, and came right up to me and "begged" for some. As much as I love my cutie-patootie nephew, I was not willing to share my last coconut popsicle (he'd also just had the flu and I did not want to take the risk of catching it) but I gladly got him his very own raspberry one. I couldn't help but laugh every time he took a bite. The cold must have shocked him or something, his eyes would get so wide!

Later that day, we were just getting ready to take him home and he was screaming his head off, and we didn't know why, until he threw up all over Madre. I don't know how many times Madre has been thrown up on. But I admire her... calmness..? She never freaks out like I know I would. She always takes care of them first. She took Davy into the bathroom where he splattered all over the floor again, and stripped him down and made him stand near the toilet, all the while saying "oh you poor baby, that's why you were crying. Your poor tummy hurt!" She didn't once complain like I would have done.

Good job Madre. I hope I can be like you when my kid barfs all over me.

Loved it!

I just finished reading this book and I loved it! It is one of Madre's favorites, and I think I might have to add it to my list of favorites too. It definitely wasn't what I expected. I thought, oh its one of Madre's favorites it'll be something with a profound message and big words I don't understand and I won't be able to wrap my head around any of it. But I enjoyed it all the same. It makes me want to have a nice big journal that I can write in everywhere I go.

Last spot open

Last night was Young Women in Excellence. My best friend Jenna finished her personal progress and she got her medallion and statue last night also. Yay Jenna! I am really happy for her, but now there is only one spot left on the plaque and Jenna's sister S is sure to get it. I am close, but not nearly as close as she is. So I'm going to have to battle it out and see if I can get that last spot right below my best friend. That would be neat. I would LOVE to be next to Jenna. But if I can't do it, I will make sure I am FIRST on the new plaque :)

Another Obsession

This show is rapidly becoming another obsession. Scoutmaster (who, BTW was released from his calling as the scoutmaster, but I'll always see him as the crazy OCD-about-scouting dad so I'm still going to call him Scoutmaster :) started it. And he has been putting the Office on the netflix queue for the past two months. I know the show backwards and forwards, and Scoutmaster and I are always quoting it and sharing our favorite parts of the show. The new season started a couple weeks ago, and the first episode is hilarious! I think I might watch it again.

Just putting it out there

My family had started this new... tradition. I guess. I don't know if we will keep it up every year. But for the past 2 years we've picked names for Christmas, and I don't know who has me. And I have been trying to find out, but everyone just says "I don't know, Em" so, just putting it there for my sisters and family that read my blog: Can I have this?

If you haven't ever read the Artemis Fowl books, I strongly suggest it. They are so much fun, I love them!

Tuesday, September 30, 2008

They're all gone...

Ya, we slaughtered took them to a nice farm in Iowa. No more Emma's Farm Fresh Eggs. No more going out there four times a day when its 30 degrees out to melt their frozen water. No more waking up at 3 in the morning to the rooster crowing, or having to chase them out of the next door neighbors garden. *sigh*... finally! On the other hand, I can't gather the eggs, and see if I can throw the bad ones at the top of the water tower, or spray the chickens with the hose when I'm refilling their water, or herd them into the barn using the lawn mower... dang.

Thursday, September 18, 2008

I finally decided!

St. Martin! It's an Island in the Carribean, and they speak french so I can try out my new french speaking skills ordering food and stuff. And its got great beaches and snorkeling, sailing, and a ferry that goes the St. Barts so I think I'm really going to like it!

BYU game!

The game was so much fun! And sitting on the UCLA side was not that bad. I got a shirt to show my true colors, and half the other UCLA-ers sporting there colors left anyways, so by the end there were only a few blotches of light blue and gold throughout the stadium. Including the players. BYU won! 59-0. I wanted BYU to win, but I didn't want them to slaughter the other team! It was still fun. Every time they scored Holly, Dad, and Mom and I would "rise and shout" and clap along with everyone else. I hope none of the UCLA fans were annoyed by us...
Yesterday was a rough day. I did the exact opposite of what happened last week. I failed Geography. I'ma dolt. I failed GEOGRAPHY! My phone was taken away, and I was... despondent... yeah. But I get it back today. I spent three hours just studying Health, hoping I could scrape a passable grade in that. I passed the test for the first half of the chapter with an A! I seem to have problem just focusing on certain subjects and forgetting the rest.

School Again School Again

School has started. It's not so bad. I already failed on my Health Test, but it was my first week and I didn't know what to expect! Mom told me if I failed in my Geography then I would be grounded. Not just from friends, but iPod and text too! Eeeeeeeeee I can't live without text! So I got an A in Geography :) Not a very hard subject to boast about an A in...
I am actually enjoying seminary more than I thought. I am learning more, and it is not so noisy. We established a Doughnut Day! Which I was afraid was not going to happen. He seemed like a strict teacher who didn't allow such things...
The day after tomorrow we are going up to Utah for the UCLA vs. BYU football game. Yeah! I am mortified though, I have to sit on the UCLA side! I need something to wear that will show my true colors in all the blue and gold...

Decisions...decisions...

Would you rather:

Get ALL of this cool stuff!

A camera, an IPHONE! A malibu Pilates Chair (I've wanted on ever since I watched the info-mercial), a radio that goes in your shower, a CHI straightener and MORE!!! Anything you could ever want!

Or...

Do what all my friends tell me to do: go to Europe! See all the old castles and famous paintings and statues.

OR...

Go scuba diving through these really cool underwater caves in Mexico.

OOOORRRR....

Go somewhere all outdoorsy and fun. Camp. Rock climb. Hike. River raft. Everything I did in CO.

All of these things (not sure about the Mexico trip, but maybe) are options for my 16th birthday trip. I could also go to Hawaii, but we go there periodically anyways, I might as well wait a few years. An Iphone would be so much fun (my friends will be so jealous hee hee!)! Europe for me might be boring. I'm not the art/history kind of person. I don't enjoy museums. But it seems as if Europe is where everyone wants to go. They want to see the old stuff. So it can't be so bad... caving diving would be awesome. Going back to CO would be really nice too. I'm still leaning towards the cool stuff. A camera and Iphone sound reeeeeeally nice.

I'd like to know which ones you like :)
